A detail of a rosette hat

I spent Black Friday searching for the sweaters to make a new batch of hats. Raw materials determine the final product, so it can be a real easter egg hunt- the right colors, weights, textile blends that will eventually get washed and dried and cut up. How long does it take to make a hat? Well, if you don’t count years of experience, trial and error, pattern development, etc. … and days of searching just to find the right raw materials… and hours of processing the fabrics, cutting them up, putting the pieces and parts together… I might get a small batch of 10-12 stitched together in a day. But if they have details, like the rosette in this photo- they take much longer. I’m glad I still love what I do!
