My favorite show of the year is the Randy Brodnax and Friends show at the Sons of Hermann Hall in Deep Ellum -Dallas, TX. What makes this show so great is everything. It is a cool old building with a great history, it is filled with some of the best working artists (and craftsmen and craftswomen) around. These folks feel more like family every year. I love being with them. I’m next to Carl Block upstairs who makes me laugh pretty much the entire time, and he sings and plays is mandolin while he is selling every single crazy face jug that he has brought- I am not joking about this. There are families that come to this show and do all of their Christmas shopping and have been doing it this way for years. Randy will be downstairs cooking up some of the tastiest Cajun Gumbo around- and if you like Bloody Mary’s the bartender makes one that will knock your socks off. I hope you will come by and check it out, early rather than late if you want one of Carl’s face jugs.
