Last weekend I was at the Texas Art Education Association conference in Austin, TX. Many of you know that Austin’s mission statement is “Keep Austin Weird” – great words to live by in my book!
As it happened TAEA was located right next to the Austin Comic Con and so weird was in the air this weekend. What kept me in big smiles was the popularity on one of my new items. EARS. Rounded pieces of recycled sweaters with fuzzy bits of colorful wool roving felted into the ears, sculpted and attached to a headband. (I’ll attach a photo- AFTER I MAKE SOME MORE) Finally, an addition to my line that can be worn in temps over 40 degrees.
The folks that got their ears on this weekend were all ages, makes and models- and when they walked away they wore them with pride. One teacher was even working them into her classroom management system. “OK kids, I have on my listening ears… Do YOU??” I was even taking orders for ears and have ears to ship this week.
You will have to check back, my plan is to go make more…quick…and post them in my etsy store, and on my blog. But if you see your long lost ears show up, get ’em quick, they won’t be around long.
